Looking for the Ancient Mysteries
The mystery of an ancient civilization has captured the imaginations of the metaphysically inclined and perplexed researchers for a score of centuries. There are more thoughts regarding what that legendary locale entailed and how the wisdom of the ancients could be found than nearly any other tale of primordial people. Yet the tale of a Utopian culture which predated our earliest records has lived on precisely for the reason that it holds so much meaning as we confront what may turn out to be our own Deluge or Golden Age.
New Age book connoisseurs can enjoy a wide variety of titles alluding to the enigma of Atlantis, both academically oriented and fiction. The subject is identified by many writers with reincarnation, and is part of the mythos of Awakening Movement prophecy.
The Greek philosopher Plato originally wrote chronicling a powerful race of builders, known as Atlantis, three centuries before the murder of Caesar. According to Plato, Atlantis had been in the Atlantic Ocean and thrived until about ten millennia earlier.
Renowned prophet Edgar Cayce conceived of the island as a large land mass, approximately equal in size to Europe. As it is told in the prophet’s florid vision, the Atlanteans were gifted with supernatural psionic talents and technologies, and were the progenitors of the oddly congruent pyramid building cultures of the early Sumerians and the pre-Columbian Americans.
Hypotheses about the true whereabouts of Atlantis vary widely from the Indonesia to the Bermuda Triangle, though the likeliest candidates, as might be expected, have been European islands, especially Sardinia and Cyprus.
We may never know the actual details, however, the evidence appears overwhelming: human kind has achieved high levels of advancement, long before what we habitually regard as “history,” laid down the first cuneiform.
